WOW! it actually is starting to feel real now. i’m sitting at the airport and it’s starting to hit me. SF is no longer my home. i have a one way ticket to a new place and am going to throw myself in to this new city and eat up all it has to offer (literally and figuratively). san francisco is home and i feel like will always be home, but sometimes life throws you sign after sign that you just cannot ignore.
i have always loved austin and have always been open to moving there. however, i also love my job & there’s never been something that’s motivated me to ever consider moving, until this year. my manager left my team(who i adored), her manager left too & my roommate told me she was moving out. right around that same time my company sent me an email that a role in austin popped up WITH RELOCATION.
i quietly applied, and shortly after interviewed. i didn’t think too much about it, just that it made sense. things were changing all around me, and my gut just told me to go for it. a few weeks later, i got the call, and the rest is history. now i won’t bore you all with the logistics of it all, but i will say I CAN’T BELIEVE TODAY IS THE DAY.
i’m sitting at the airport sipping wine and it’s hitting me- i’m taking this big chance on myself and my future and it feels REALLY GOOD. there for sure are a lot of unknowns still, but i’m confident i can tackle any growing pains that come my way.
i’ve always believed that when you’re uncomfortable, you learn the most about yourself and you find your true north. in spiritual terms, your true north is “the calling of your spirit and the wisdom of the heart”. i felt exactly that when i jumped at this opportunity and i still feel that now. it’s exactly where my spirit and heart want me to be, for now.
SO WHAT’S NEXT? i legit don’t know too much. i am moving in to corportate housing tonight (they had a little hiccup already and things have been a little crazy today) and this weekend i start looking at apartments. i plan to move in to my own place at the end of the month- and CANNOT wait to decorate. i’m looking at places in downtown austin, closer to work.
i also just want to start exploring- there are so many fun places to go in austin (and outside of austin) that i want to check out! i have a growing list of places to see and things to eat. if y’all have any recommendations, please send them my way.
i’ll be sure to check in again soon, but for now, i’m going to get back to this glass of red wine before i have to book my flight- cheers to adventure!
